The role

As the Engineer in Test Technical Lead on Wayve’s Onboard Software team, you will play a pivotal role in establishing the test infrastructure and practices necessary to ensure the robustness and reliability of our AI-driven autonomous vehicle systems. Your leadership will be crucial in enabling software engineers to seamlessly integrate testing into their development workflows, automating hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing, and creating advanced frameworks for sensor emulation that facilitate full system testing. By driving excellence in testing practices and mentoring junior engineers, you will directly contribute to the continuous improvement of Wayve’s software development life cycle.

Key responsibilities:

  • Test Infrastructure Development: Design and implement scalable and maintainable test infrastructure that empowers software engineers to efficiently create, run, and automate tests within their development and release processes
  • Automation of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) Testing: Lead the development and automation of HiL testing environments supporting a multitude of target platforms, ensuring that hardware components are accurately and consistently tested within our software ecosystem
  • Sensor Emulation Frameworks: Create and maintain frameworks for sensor emulation that enable comprehensive system-level testing, ensuring the reliability and performance of our autonomous vehicle platforms
  • Advancement of Testing Practices: Champion the adoption of best practices in software testing across the organization, providing guidance and support to software developers in crafting effective and robust testing strategies
  • Drive Testing Strategy: Collaborate with product managers and Wayve’s Automotive Verification and Product Management teams to ensure the testing strategies of our onboard software support business needs
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of engineers in test and other software engineers, fostering their skills growth and ensuring alignment with the overall goals of Wayve’s testing and quality assurance efforts
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing refinement and enhancement of Wayve’s software development life cycle, focusing on increasing efficiency, quality, and reliability

Technologies the team is using: the onboard software is run on Nvidia Jetson devices; C++ and Rust being the main languages we use in the most of our codebase. We use many of the industry standard libraries that you'd expect i.e. ROS2 ecosystem.
